Sand-and-cobblestone right point at the south end of the Trestles zone, peeling off a rivermouth setup that lines up cleanly on mid tide. Shoulders run long and rippable, with the occasional hollow section when a solid SW fills in. Rights dominate, though a stray left off the top shows now and then. Suits intermediates finding trim lines and advanced surfers chasing longer walls.

WHEN IT WORKS

Church faces open ocean and grabs south, southwest, and west energy, so summer south pulses and fall through winter west swells both light the reef up. Mid tide is the sweet spot, though a rising higher tide holds shape when the swell carries size. Mornings usually run glassy behind a light offshore before the daily onshore fills in by early afternoon.

WHAT TO KNOW

Real danger stays minimal, but the reef is loose cobblestone that rolls underfoot, so entries and exits take care, especially barefoot. Crowds are the bigger issue, with strong locals and travelling shortboarders sharing a compact peak, so patience in the lineup matters. The walk out after dark leaves surfers exposed, and Camp Pendleton closures can shut access on short notice.

GETTING THERE

5-15 min walk on average

Most surfers park at the Cristianitos lot off I-5 or on nearby streets by the Carl's Jr., then roll or walk the paved bike path along the freeway for about 1.5 to 2 miles. A dirt cutoff drops off the bluff to the cobbles at the south end of Trestles. E-bikes trim the trip to roughly ten minutes. Porta-potties sit near the trail, with no showers or fresh water on site.
